Description
Your deluxe volcano adventure will commence the
moment you step on board our deluxe SUV vehicle and
embark on an exciting excursion to the picturesque region
of Puna, located on the Big Island of Hawaii’s southeast
coast. Since 1983 when Kilauea Volcano first erupted,
this area has seen the most dramatic and spectacular
events of nature, causing the landscape to be forever
changed.
As you begin your journey we will present an astounding
presentation of the Kilauea eruption. You’ll hear accounts
of life in Kalapana, Puna from the former residents
who witnessed the destruction of their homes just a
few years ago. After the presentation we will visit
the site of what was once the world’s most beautiful
black sand beach but now is buried below 75 feet of
lava. You will get to walk across the recent dried lava
flow and actually feel a warm heat below your feet.
Next it’s on the Mackenzie State Park to view the dramatic
cliffs of lava towering above the brilliant blue Pacific
Ocean. Here you will enjoy a delicious picnic style
deli lunch on the property of a real working macadamia
nut and honey farm. There will be ample time to take
in the panoramic views before continuing on to a 350
acre volcanic crater which is home to one of only two
fresh water lakes on the Big Island. The crater sits
on the slopes of Kilauea Volcano and is in a spectacular
tropical rain forest.
Your extraordinary day will end with a visit to the
world-famous Rainbow Falls nestled in the rainforest.
